A Deep Dive into Global Energy Trends
In this project, I analysed the energy dataset from Our World in Data, using PowerBI. The focus was on key trends in global energy consumption, including renewable energy, gas, coal, and oil production, with data processed using Python.
Key insights include a significant rise in renewable energy consumption, approaching parity with electricity demand, and gas production contributing 3.05% to total energy in 2021—reflecting a dramatic 53,665.42% increase since 1900. Additionally, a negative correlation between gas and coal production highlights the complex relationships among energy sources.
Recommendations include investing in renewable technologies, diversifying energy sources for resilience, and continuous monitoring of energy trends to support proactive decision-making in the energy sector.
